BIG BLUE - Share the Life

The PADI Divemaster Course is the first step in becoming a respected PADI professional. It helps to develop role model characteristics, builds on interpersonal skills, refines your knowledge on dive theory to a professional level, develops your dive skills, builds on your rescue skills and guides you to becoming a certified assistant and dive management and supervision abilities.

We are willing to help you achieve the divemaster status, but it will be down to you and your commitment. We wont carry you through the course, you will be expected to work hard and to commit to your goal.

How Do You Get Started

You must be 18 yrs old, in good physical condition and have proof of PADI Rescue Diver certification or equivalent. You'll also need proof of a current (within 24 months) CPR and Basic First Aid qualification. If you have not completed these requirements you can enroll onto our EFR Emergency First Response course.

You will need to have logged 40 dives to begin the course and have 60 logged dives to be certified.

Before Big Blue can accept you as a DM candidate you will be required to come for an interview. Where we will discuss with you your expectations for the course and what we will expect from you as a Big Blue DM candidate. We will assign you a mentor, who will help to guide throughout the duration of the course, and hopefully beyond.

This course cannot be rushed. We can work with part-time or full-time candidates, from 2 wks to 4 months. The average length of the part-time course is 2 to 3 months.

1. Required personal equipment: Dive knife/tool, pocket mask, surface marker buoy, compass, whistle, mask, fins, and snorkel.
2. The 3 Qiandao Lake trips will enable you to fulfill the course requirements, and complete all 12 training dives.
3. The cost of the PADI member application fees are not included in the price of the course, this must be paid directly to PADI. We can assist you with payment from China if you do not have a credit card.
4. It is advisable to take out Personal health insurance or DAN Diving insurance. We will arrange all travel insurance for Big Blue dive trips.

Application

1. Initial interview
2. Fill in the application form and hand in two passport photographs
3. Show your all PADI certification cards and logbook
4. Submit copies of your passport/ID card for travel insurance
5. Pay the course training fees
6. Collect the training materials (Chinese and English available)
