An incredible macro heaven – that is the essence of scuba ding in Dumaguete. It is no wonder this is a must see destination for the underwater photographer.
Here we have sloping sandy areas, lawns of seagrass, steep walls, coral reefs, and wherever you dive, you’ll see various underwater species, such as Ghost Pipefish, Emperor Shrimps, Anemone Crabs, Nudibranchs, and the mini Frogfish which is shorter than 5mm. They could all be ideal shooting targets. With a little luck you could also find Turtles, Barracuda, Schools of Trevally and Eagle Rays.
About 40-mins by boat from Dumaguete beach, you could arrive at the famous dive site of Apo Island. There are many kinds of mature fish and coral here, and with a nice exhilarating current which is good for all level divers. If you want to try more exciting things like drift diving, the east side diving sites can perfectly satisfy your needs.
Dumaguete is one of the best diving destinations in the Visayas, if you have 4 to 5-days to travel.
