Photo Gallery of Anilao, Philippine
Anilao is a small village which is located 2 and a half hours away from Manila, Philippines. There are no crowded streets or shopping malls, or overcrowded with tourism, but it’s regarded as the birthplace of Scuba diving in the Philippines. Every weekend, thousands of divers from Manila neighboring city's come to this small village to enjoy Scuba diving.
There are around 30 dive sites in Anilao, with something for the novice and experienced diver. Marine life is diverse, with beautiful hard coral and soft coral fields. A spectacular healthy reef plays home to a huge amount of coral fish, trevally, barracuda, sea turtles and whitetip reef sharks are often encountered by divers in this area. Muck diving is another highlight in Anilao - flounders, mantis shrimp, ghost pipefish, the mimic octopus, pygmy seahorses, a never ending surprise of nudibranch species and some rare species of fish can only be foundhere as well.
The "Cathedral" is a very popular dive site in Anilao, here you can find a miniature underwater castle structure and the famous cross! Hence the name and rather catty resemblance to a "Cathedral".
This concrete mark was installed by the former Philippines president Fidel V. Ramos. When he was then the Constabulary chief. The "Cathedral" is the only dive site where fish feeding is permitted.
Apart from the "Cathedral", Mainit, Secret bay, Kaola are good dive sites too. Don't forget to take your camera if you like underwater photography, we believe you will have some good pictures in this awesome big little world!
